I came out of the opening ceremonies having traded all of my gear for other items. A Brazil jacket and shirt, Argentina shirt and hats and pins from several countries.

The ceremonies ended with a beautiful display of fireworks.

And lit the torch at the end of the zip-line to mark the official start of the games.

He then came down a zip-line from the top of the stadium to the awe of the spectators and athletes.

The torch bearer made his way through the crowd of athletes and then climbed high into the stadium stands.

Elliot, Avie and I waving to the photographer in the stands.

An Argentinian dance troupe that David and Tico had to have a picture with.

Me and Chad, another Phoenix boy from the Men's hoops team. He had a tournament ending knee injury in a game that I was watching.

Rick S. from Phoenix, the Jr. hoops coach.

Elliot K (hands raised high), cheering to the crowd. I'm to his right and David is behind us. This and several other pictures were taken by Shay Bannick, David's wife. Thanks for the pics Shay.

Coming into the stadium from the grounds outside.

The USA banner and flag bearer.

Me and the soccer boys marching into the stadium.

Some of the Canadian contingent marching into the stadium.

Number 7's from the Masters and Open Men's soccer teams. This kid is good.

David Bannick (our goalie - "Keeper of the Pipes") and I milling around outside the stadium.

The team posing for pictures.

Steve, Shaun and Greg with Laynie Ginsberg, one the members of the organizing team in Philly.

Team photo op with the stadium in the background.

On our was through the downtown, I observed this monument. The drive to the stadium has a crazy joyride through traffic with a military escort.

Hanging in the conference room waiting to board buses to the opening ceremonies.
